Of all the places I look forward to visiting the least is Selhurst Park. Until Simon Jordan obtained the lease in 2006, Ron Noades had let the place go, and to be honest there is not much evidence of new investment in the post-Noades era. The away stand is a dump (you are shoved in a corner despite the stand being invariably empty) the facilities are like something from the glory, glory days and despite this its 25 quid to get in. I don't buy the London prices thing, because this is no Upper St or Kings Road - Selhurst, Thornton Heath etc are dingy South London Satellites, with good old fashioned boozers and shabby streets - this isn't a wealthy area. Its also difficult to get to - lots of traffic or snail trains from London Bridge and a 10 minute walk. Pull it down and start again, this stadium is one of the reasons people stopped going to football matches.

Travel Information to Selhurst Park
Directions by Car
North - Leave the M25 at Junction 4 and take the A21 to Croydon and Bromley. Take the A232 (signposted Croydon), where it joins the A21; which proceeds to Bromley.
Continue on the A232 through Hayes and West Wickham, until the road bears right at a roundabout facing Shirley Park Golf Club (Shirley Road). Follow the road downhill until it bears left to Croydon (Addiscombe Road), but go straight on, (still Shirley Road). At the T-junction turn right and then left at the traffic lights on to Spring Lane, passing the old Woodside railway station on your left. Follow the road right on to Portland Road and after going uphill under the railway bridge, go straight over at the traffic lights.
South - Leave the M25 at Junction 7 and follow the signs for the A23 to Croydon. At Purley bear left onto the A23 at its junction with the A 235 (to Croydon). You will pass several roundabouts and junctions with the A232 and A236 as you pass Croydon, after which the A23 bears left at Thornton Heath (at the Horseshoe pub roundabout), go straight over, into Brigstock Road (B266), go past Thornton Heath Station on your left and bearing right on to the High Street. At the next mini roundabout, (Whitehorse Road/Grange Road) go left into Whitehorse Lane, follow the road and the ground is on your right.
The ground is signposted quite well in and around Thornton Heath.
Sainburys car park outside of the ground is a viable option if you can get to the ground early enough, there are a couple of small car parks in local schools which cost £5 per car otherwise you will have to park in the street, we would recommend going past the ground (with the ground on your right) and looking in the small roads on the left half way up White Horse Lane.
Selhurst station is about a 5 minute walk from the ground, Thornton Heath station is about a 10 minute walk and Norwood Junction is also about 10 minutes. DO NOT GO TO CRYSTAL PALACE!
