The ground is really easy to find, you'll struggle to find an Ipswich fan who wants to kick your head in and everyone always seems to be in good spirits although the home fans can be a little quiet inside the ground. There is lots to do outside the ground with plenty of pubs and places to eat although KFC get really busy so get in there early. The concourse in the ground serves all the usual match day food but due to the fact that the concourse is a little small it can sometimes take you a while to get served.
The view from the away end is fairly good considering they tuck you away in the top corner of the Cobbald Stand along the side of the pitch. When i say cram you in, they really do cram you in. Not a great deal of leg room and you can, at times, feel like you are sitting on the lap of the person next to you.
We ended up losing 1-0 to Ipswich which was a bit of a dissapointment but despite the result it was an enjoyable day once again. Probably my favorite ground.

Travel Information to Portman Road
Directions by Car
North - Follow the A14 until you reach the turning for the A137, follow the A137 the ground is on your left hand side.
South - Exit M25 at the junction for the A12 (Signposted Chelmsford), follow the A12 until you get to a roundabout (Ipswich services), at this round about go straight over towards Ipswich & Hadleigh on the A1214. At the next roundabout take the second exit following the A1214, go through a few sets of lights onto the A1071 (signposted Town Centre) after the 3rd set of lights half a mile down the road turn right into Portman Road.
Car parks can be found at the station costing £2.50 and outside the cinema complex both of which are right enxt door to Portman road. You can also park in the town centre which is about a 20 minute walk to the ground.
