"Pub advice"
A lot of the pubs in town, other than on derby days or against Man U, will allow away fans in and theres not too much trouble nowadays as games are well policed. Dr Browns tends to be quite popular for visiting supporters, However I would advise against going into the Navigation pub near the stadium. Games against Newcastle, Sunderland, Man U and Leeds are really the only ones you have to keep your witts about you.
